Do I need to clean and box all of the items?
Do I need to clean and box items before sale?
No need to organize for us! Once we have contracted with you, our team will begin the process. We sort, wash, tag, price, and display each and every item in your home. No job is too big or too small for us!
How do I know what has value? Can I place a reserve price on my items?
Let us take the guesswork out of what has value and what does not. We want to get the ultimate amount of money possible for you. With over 45 years in the antique business, and 25 years in the estate liquidation business, we offer a professional analysis of everyday items, as well as rare and unusual items. We may find something in your home that requires further investigation of its value. We have worked with large well-known auction houses from coast to coast. If by chance there is an item that we wish to seek a second opinion, we also work closely with local and regional dealers and experts that specialize in many areas. Additionally, all members of our team are equipped with the technolgical tools needed to research any item online and on site.
How will my sale by conducted?
Great American Estate Sales provides an in-home sale for one or more days (depending on the size of your sale). Our team of experts ensures professional advertising and a guarantee to get the people to your sale! By law we are required to collect sales tax at your sale. We will obtain all required permits and tax licenses. At sale end, some items will remain. We will work with you to determine where you want items to be sent. We partner with many local charities who are happy to pick up any donation. Finally...we offer you and your loved ones one very important thing...confidence! We have worked in the valley and surrounding areas for over 30 years. We are honest, trusted, and highly respected. Many references and local contacts are testimony to our services.
Will my items be discounted at any time?
Items are priced according to extensive research by our staff to find fair market value. They are also priced per our 25 years experience in the estate sale business. We DO NOT take any offers during the first day of sale. We believe the prices that we have assigned are fair and the family deserves these treasures to receive what they are worth. Items that do not sell during our "full price" time will be offered at a bargain price on the second day. Some items, however, may not be subject to these reductions. It is always at the family's discretion. The content of the home never belongs to us so you are the final say on how you would like price reductions to happen.
How many employees are on your team?
Great American Estate Sales and Services is a team of highly competent and knowlegable individuals. In addition to Becky Brown, who brings over 45 years experience in many areas including antiques, jewelry, Native American Arts, and Artwork, the team also includes Amy Carlton an expert in marketing, social media, graphic design and advertising. Great American Estate Sales and Services' team also consists of 4 other employess who are not only enthusiastic about the estate liquidation busines, but who are very highly regarded. Our customers love them and so do we! They are on staff for both preparation of your sale and for day of sale activities. You can rest assured that your home is covered during the sale hours.
Do you bring items from past sales?
It is our practice to never combine inventory, be it personal or from another estate. We feel that such practices take away from the saleability of your items.
Does your company collect sales tax?
As an estate liquidation company, we are required by law to collect and pay city, state, and county sales tax.
What about items that do not sale?
Although the majority of the estate's content will be sold during the sale, there are always a hand full of items that remain. These items always belong to you, never to us. We would be more than happy to arrange a donation to a local reputable charity and obtain a tax donation for the estate.
